Dasam Foundation Facilitates Mission Vatsalya Support for the Welfare of Children in Assam
A community outreach initiative by the Dasam Foundation has enabled several eligible children in Assam to receive financial assistance under Mission Vatsalya, a flagship child protection programme implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Mission Vatsalya aims to ensure the care, protection, education, and rehabilitation of children living in difficult circumstances. However, in many communities, lack of awareness and administrative hurdles often prevent eligible families from accessing such support.
Recognising this challenge, the Dasam Foundation initiated a targeted outreach effort in parts of Dibrugarh and Charaideo districts to identify eligible children and assist their families in accessing the benefits available under the programme.
Community Outreach and Facilitation
During field visits and interactions with families, the Foundation identified several children who had lost their fathers and whose households were facing financial hardship. Many of these families were unaware that government assistance was available to support the welfare, education, and development of children in such circumstances.
To address this gap, the Dasam Foundation undertook a series of facilitative steps. These included identifying eligible beneficiaries through community engagement, guiding families about the provisions and eligibility criteria of Mission Vatsalya, assisting with the documentation required for the application process, and coordinating with district authorities responsible for implementing the scheme.
Through this intervention, the Foundation helped families navigate the administrative procedures necessary to access government assistance.
Financial Support Now Reaching Beneficiaries
As a result of these efforts, the identified children have now been successfully linked with the Mission Vatsalya programme and are receiving financial assistance from the Government of India. The support is expected to help meet essential needs related to education, nutrition, and day-to-day living.
For the families involved, the assistance provides not only financial relief but also reassurance that institutional support systems exist to safeguard the future of their children.

Children Supported Through the Initiative
The following children have benefited through the outreach and facilitation efforts of the Dasam Foundation:
- Jasbir Singh, 15 yrs, son of Late Pradip Singh and Simi Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
- Navrup Singh, 9 yrs, son of Late Pradip Singh and Simi Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
- Gurprit Singh, 9 yrs, son of Late Arwinder Singh and Rimpy Kaur, Charaideo district.
- Navjot Kaur, 14 yrs, daughter of Late Arwinder Singh and Rimpy Kaur, Charaideo district.
- Jasneet Kaur, 11 yrs, daughter of Late Saranjit Singh and Jasprit Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
- Hardish Singh, 7 yrs, son of Late Saranjit Singh and Jasprit Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
- Sidak Kaur, 14 yrs, daughter of Late Satinder Singh and Ranjit Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
- Samarpreeet Singh, 17 yrs, son of Late Manoj Singh and Narinder Kaur, Dibrugarh district.
Role of Community Organisations
The initiative highlights the important role that community-based organisations can play in strengthening the reach of public welfare programmes. While government policies provide the framework for assistance, many beneficiaries remain outside the system due to limited awareness or procedural barriers.
By identifying eligible children and helping their families navigate the application process, the Dasam Foundation helped ensure that the intended benefits of Mission Vatsalya reached those who needed them most.
