Dhubri Saheb Souvenir Magazine

Released to mark the 350th Shaheedi Purab of Hind Di Chadar, Sahib Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The Dhubri Saheb Souvenir Magazine was released to mark the 350th Shaheedi Purab of Sahib Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji — Hind Di Chadar, whose martyrdom in 1675 remains one of the defining moral acts in the history of the subcontinent.

The volume gathers, for the first time in a single online edition, archival photographs, historical records, scholarly notes and tributes connected to Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Dhubri — one of the most significant Sikh shrines east of Punjab. The complete volume — archival photographs, historical records, and scholarly tributes.

A note from the Editor

On what this volume holds

A souvenir is not, properly understood, a keepsake. It is a refusal — a refusal to let what mattered be carried only in memory, where it thins with each generation that did not witness it.

The 350th Shaheedi Purab of Sahib Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji asks something of those who commemorate it: that the act of remembering be made durable. This volume is one small attempt at that durability. It gathers what was scattered — photographs, records, tributes connected to Dhubri Saheb — and sets them in a form that will outlast the occasion that prompted it.

The Sikh story east of Punjab has long needed a record of its own. We begin here, at Dhubri, where it was written first in blessing and then in soil.
