The Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Eastern Zone, Dhubri Sahib, has expressed deep gratitude to the Sikh Sangat of the North Eastern states for their wholehearted presence and contributions during the 350th Shaheedi Gurmat Samagam and the commencement of the Nagar Kirtan titled “Dharam Heit Saka Jin Kiya.” The event was held on 20–21 August 2025 at Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Dhubri Sahib, Assam.
This grand religious initiative was organized in collaboration with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, the apex Sikh body. Hosting such a spiritually significant procession in Assam was an honorable moment for the Sikh community in the North East, marking the region’s place in Sikh history.
Presence of Eminent Sikh Leaders
The Samagam witnessed the presence of several prominent Sikh leaders and jathedars, including:
- Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Ji Gargaj, Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib
- S. Harjinder Singh Ji Dhami, President, SGPC Amritsar
- Baba Balbir Singh Ji, Jathedar Budha Dal

Their participation, along with the presence of SGPC members and other Sikh dignitaries from India and abroad, drew large gatherings of devotees and well-wishers, making the Nagar Kirtan a truly historic occasion.

The Nagar Kirtan was jointly organized under the leadership of the Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Eastern Zone, whose office bearers include:

Working alongside SGPC, Amritsar, the Board played a pivotal role in coordinating arrangements, mobilizing the local Sangat, and ensuring smooth conduct of the Samagam.
Community Support
Several Sikh organizations from across the North East, including Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees, the All Assam Sikh Youth Association, North East Rangreta Dal, and Sikh Naujawan Sabha, extended strong support by arranging transport, mobilizing buses, and assisting with sewa throughout the event.
The Yatra
The Nagar Kirtan will begin from Dhubri Sahib on 21st August, 2025 and conclude at Sri Anandpur Sahib Covering more than 60 stops across Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab, the procession will travel thousands of kilometers.
Major stops include Siliguri, Kolkata, Patna Sahib, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai, Surat, Delhi, Sangrur, Damdama Sahib, Ludhiana, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar, and Chamkaur Sahib, before culminating at Anandpur Sahib.
Significance
The joint initiative by SGPC and the Sikh Pratinidhi Board highlights the historical importance of Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Dhubri Sahib. The yatra serves as both a tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s supreme sacrifice and a unifying journey for the Sikh community across India.
