
A major regional youth initiative representing Sikh youth across the Northeastern states has officially taken shape with the formation of the North East Sikh Youth Association (NESYA).
The launch meeting was hosted at the Conference Hall of Gurdwara Saheb in Dimapur on Sunday, the 7th of December, 2025 and witnessed strong participation from across the region.
More than 100 Sikh youth delegates from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland attended the session, while letters of support were received from representatives in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland, signalling broad endorsement for the new organisation.
New Leadership Elected
During the session, the house elected its first office-bearers:
- President: S. Prabhdip Singh (Golaghat, Assam)
- Secretary – I: S. Pratik Singh Sethi (Dimapur, Nagaland)
- Secretary – II: S. Rajveer Singh Johal (Shillong, Meghalaya)
- Treasurer: S. Parminder Singh Hanspal (Sibsagar, Assam)

The Visionaries Behind NESYA
The meeting recognised the vision and efforts of S. Darvinder Singh Nanda (Dibrugarh), Public Relations Officer of the Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone, Dhubri Saheb along with S. Jaswant Singh Flora (Digboi) and S. Mandeep Singh Sokhi (Duliajan), whose initiative laid the foundation for NESYA’s formation.

The inaugural gathering was attended by several prominent Sikh youth and community representatives, including:

- S. Gurpartap Singh, President, Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Guwahati
- S. Anmol Singh, President, Manipur Sikh Youth Association
- S. Tejinder Singh, President, Meghalaya Sikh Youth Association
- S. Maninder Singh Khalsa, Ex-President, All Assam Sikh Youth Association
- S. Prabhdeep Singh Dhadyala, Ex-President, All Assam Sikh Youth Association
Organisers noted that the presence of senior youth leaders highlighted the growing need for a unified platform for Sikh youth across the Northeast.
Next Steps for NESYA
The Association announced several immediate priorities including:
- Organisational structuring
- Drafting of the Constitution
- Registration as a Society
- Banking and legal formalities
With formal processes now underway, NESYA aims to evolve into a pan-Northeast platform committed to youth engagement, cultural preservation, leadership development and collaborative community initiatives.

The meeting concluded successfully, with special appreciation extended to the Punjabi Youth Association, Dimapur, for hosting what is being described as a historic milestone for the Sikh youth community in the Northeast.
