About the Souvenir:

Dhubri Saheb has been published by the Sikh Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Editorial Team
  • Editor-in-Chief: S. Darvinder Singh Nanda
  • Assistant Editor & Coordinator: Bibi Rupa Rani Kaur
  • Assistant Editor & Designer: Bibi Reema Kaur Nanda
Purpose and Scope

The Souvenir aims to document and interpret:

  • The historic legacy of Dhubri Saheb
  • The evolution and development of the shrine
  • The contributions of Sewadars who have sustained its sanctity
  • Archival accounts, historical essays, photographs, community narratives, and scholarly contributions

Its intended audience extends across the Sikh community, researchers, students, and members of the international Sangat seeking authentic insights into Eastern India’s Sikh heritage.

The Editorial Journey:

The making of the Souvenir represents a remarkable editorial achievement. When S. Darvinder Singh Nanda was appointed Editor-in-Chief and Nodal Officer on 16 October 2025, the publication existed only as a concept—with the unveiling scheduled for 24 November 2025.

Building the Editorial Structure

A core team was formed in Dibrugarh to ensure rapid coordination. Appeals were issued to individuals and institutions for articles, stories, photographs, and artworks. The Assistant Editor & Coordinator managed submissions with discipline and timeliness.

Designing Under Extreme Time Constraints

With only 20 days available, the editorial and design work was executed entirely from home, without professional print-studio support. Using Canva, the Editor-in-Chief and Assistant Editor & Designer crafted the layout, visual identity, and overall aesthetic of the Souvenir through long consecutive days and nights of work.

A Distinctive Cover

The cover artwork, titled Mound of Peace, was created by self-taught artist Bibi Reetu Kaur of Makum, Tinsukia. Her evocative illustration visually anchors the Souvenir in themes of serenity, remembrance, and spiritual reflection.

What emerged from this compressed timeline is more than a publication. It is a testament to coordinated effort, devotion to duty, and the collective will to preserve the story of Dhubri Saheb.

Why This Souvenir Matters

The Souvenir is significant for several reasons:

  • It documents the historic relationship between Sikh heritage and Dhubri Saheb
  • It honours the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji
  • It recognises the lifelong seva of individuals and institutions
  • It serves as an authoritative reference for future generations

As a curated historical and cultural record, it strengthens the narrative of Sikh presence and contribution in Northeast India.
